What is M8?

The M8 Pool League was established in 1989 as an alternative to the "same old league" where the top players come in and take everyone's money. The format is "race to points" so that every ball matters in every game. A mathematical formula is applied to the results of every game, every set and every match... and it applies to all players equally. Since there is no disqualification for teams going over a team-limit handicap and bonus points to those who stay under, there is no reason to attempt to manipulate handicaps. The handicap formula used is so accurate that nearly 3 out of every 4 head-to-head sets played have gone hill/hill in over 2.4 million sets played. This format has grown so popular in the Minnesota area (nearly 10 times larger than any other league system with over 600 teams each season and over 5,000 members) that we are now offering this league system all across the USA. Our league also pays out more in prize money than any other league in the same market with over $100,000 in prizes paid out each season and over $100,000 paid out in prizes in our annual league tournament where 3 teams can win up to $10,000 each and our singles champion wins $3,500. There are no "set up fees" or "franchise fees". You simply need to have the desire to improve the game of pool in your area. Why M8 you ask?

The M8 Pool League was developed on the principle that pool players are more accurately handicapped in a "race to points" format. This has been found to be crucial in leagues with widely varying skill levels. When players are given credit for balls pocketed in every game, it keeps pressure on both players to perform at the highest level possible. This "foundation of fairness" that M8 has been built on since 1989 has proven to be accurate based on the fact that in over 2.4 million sets played in M8 history, most have been decided with the final game being "hill-hill" where whichever player wins that final game, wins the set. That is pretty strong support that the M8 system is designed to make for a fair and fun league. M8 has grown to become the "largest independent pool league in the world" with nearly 5000 members on over 600 teams in Minnesota alone. M8 works with all locations that have pool tables and supports each different vendor in those locations. M8 provides the ability for national sanctioning with the BCAPL, ACS, and VNEA. We also host and promote the largest and most successful pool tournaments in Minnesota. Every year we pay out Hundreds of Thousands in CASH to our members.
